The League of Legends Runes and Mastery system has been present since the beginning of the game’s history. However, the old Runes and Mastery system were updated and replaced every since Riot Games introduced the Runes Reforged patch back at the beginning of Season 8.

Even with this new change, the Rune system remained a vital centerpiece of League’s strategical gameplay, and with that, comes Rune Pages where everything is set.

How To Get More Rune Pages

Individual Rune Pages

Individual Rune pages can be bought with Blue Essence which is an advantage especially if you’re a free-to-play player who doesn’t have the means or just generally doesn’t like to spend money on the game.

Buying an individual rune page will cost 6300 BE or 590 RP which is a reasonable price. The advantage of buying this is that you can buy a controlled amount especially if you only have a very small champion pool.

At the moment, there is only one available bundle in the League of Legends store and that is the 7 Rune Pages Bundle which can only be bought using 2600 RP. Compared to the price of individual pages, the bundle essentially gives you 7 rune pages for the price of 5 pages.

Of course, for those who don’t have a means to buy RP this is disadvantageous but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy the individual rune page itself which might be a bit more expensive in general.

Importance Of Runes In League Of Legends

Rune Page Setup for Champion, Nautilus

As mentioned before, Runes are a quintessential part of your strategical preparation which gives you an edge in preparing the champion you’re using against the matchup or just to play it to it’s strength. Runes unlock multiple ways on how a champion is played and boosts its potential by a huge amount.

By learning how to build your Runes properly, every champion essentially becomes dangerous and a bigger threat in-game.

Aside from champion nerfs and buffs, Runes have also been seeing nerfs and buffs often in the game’s patch notes strongly suggesting that Runes have become an element that developers need to keep their focus on. While keystones have come and gone since the Runes Reforged patch, a lot of the original runes are still present in today’s time.

Learning which Runes go with which champion on each patch will give you a higher chance of attaining victory in-game, and help you get that S+ rank you have been after.

Probably the most significant change in the Runes Reforged system is the fact that you can change your runes during the champ select pages given that you have at least 1 purchased rune page from the League of Legends store. This means that your pages are not entirely set and having fewer pages doesn’t limit the capabilities of your champions at all.

Learning how all of the rune combinations work can prove to be a great way of being better at playing the game.

As mentioned before, having many rune pages allows you to be more flexible when it comes to champion pool and skill. Being able to switch between your different runes in your pages can help you dominate nearly any matchup in League of Legends.

Benefits Of Having More Rune Pages

Having multiple rune pages can be both an advantage and disadvantage.

For its benefits, multiple pages essentially lessen your preparation time by having a pre-made page for the specific champion you plant to use and removing the need for you to worry on this factor while preparing for choices like champion selection, summoner spell selection, or even during the pre-game discussion with your team.

Having more than just one rune page is a good way to augment your champion collection and master more than just a few champions. Being flexible in League of Legends will allow you to play any champion with ease given how the game was designed. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you can master every single champion.

Having many rune pages isn’t only beneficial, it can be a necessity depending on your champion pool. The more champs you play the higher the chance of having less than optimal runes to use for them. This essentially means that you have to adapt accordingly which will allow you to learn how each champion works.

As mentioned, having multiple pages can also have its disadvantages.

Having a long list of rune pages can be quite confusing and intimidating which instead of helping you have more preparation time, increases your time spent on just choosing your rune page alone. This can be solved by properly naming/labeling your rune pages so that it can be easier for your to choose even if the list of rune pages can be quite high.

What Is The Limit For Rune Pages?

The highest possible amount of Rune Pages you can buy in the League of Legends store is 25. This totals your rune pages to 30 since it doesn’t include the 5 preset rune pages you have when starting the game. This is definitely more than enough since most players only use 4-10 more rune pages on average while a really experienced player will only need one.

If you plan to reach 25 pages then you best save up enough RP or BE to spend on this amount of pages for your account.

Do I Need More Than 1 Rune Page?

That depends, are you familiar with all the rune combinations for each and every champion? If yes, then you don’t need to have more than 1 page. The answer to this is because runes are made available to be edited during champion select. Having more than 1 page is only for players who take more time in other parts of the champion select phase.

Being able to personally customize your rune pages makes you more prepared for specific matchups as well.

Being able to personally customize your rune pages makes you more prepared for specific matchups as well. You can just adjust your runes depending on the opposing team’s picks in champion select. This will help you counter individual threats and win games even easier.

You can also use a rune page generator, like or, to make a valid rune page for a specific champion. These pages are created by professionals who know how each champion works and its strengths/weaknesses.

Alternative Ways To Get More Rune Pages

At the moment, there is no other way to get more rune pages in League Of Legends if you are from the major regions. You can only buy them from the League of Legends store using either BE or RP. However, for those who use the Garena servers, there is a method of getting rune pages without having to spend BE nor RP.

That is through the Garena mobile app called Garena Spin which gives you a chance to win Blue Essence, Pages, Icons, or Ward Skins on the wheel of fortune.
